'The Nutcracker' returns to South Whidbey

"The opening performance is Dec. 3 for this year’s brand new “Nutcracker” ballet presented by Whidbey Dance Theatre and the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. The full-length holiday production will be staged this year for the first time in South Whidbey High School's state-of-the-art theatre facility.Children and adults alike have enjoyed this wonderful Christmas piece, which tells the magical story of Clara and her dream-like journey through an enchanted realm, where the Mouse King makes war, flowers dance, fairies hold court, and a handsome prince comes to the rescue. Performances are Dec. 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 5, 11 and 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12/adults, $10/seniors and students 18 & under for the evening performances; there is a special matinee price of $5 for children under 13.Call the WICA box office: 221-8268.
