"Property tax statements will be a little late this year. But rest assured, they will be coming.Island County Treasurer Maxine Sauter announced this week that statements won't be mailed for another two weeks due to computer problems in Snohomish County. Tax statements usually go out around Valentine's Day.When you get used to something and it doesn't happen, it's frustrating, Sauter said about the delay. I hate to have a schedule broken.Island County has to wait for Snohomish County to complete its tax assessments because the Stanwood School District and other taxing districts bleed over into Island County, said Sauter. Difficulties with a new computer system seem to be the root of the delay. If Snohomish County completes its work next week, then it will take about one more week for Island County employees to put everything together.Sauter said taxpayers are welcome to call the Treasurer's Office if they have specific questions. That phone number is 321-5111."
