School levy failing
June 25, 2008 · Updated 11:31 AM
"With about 150 special ballots to be counted, election results in from the Island County Auditor Wednesday afternoon show both the South Whidbey School District levy and the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District bond to be failing by narrow margins.According to auditor Suzanne Sinclair, there is only the smallest chance that the school levy will pass. If all the remaining votes are marked yes in favor of the levy, it would pass on a 60.9-percent vote. Currently, the vote is at 59.8 percent, with 3,119 people voting yes and 2,096 voting no.The parks vote is at 58.11 percent, with 3,027 voting yes and 2,182 voting no."
