County Commissioner Mike Shelton is program guest

"The South Whidbey Republican Women will welcome Island County Commissioner Mike Shelton on their program Tuesday, March 21, 11:30 a.m. at the Useless Bay Golf and Country Club. Guests are welcome to attend; make reservations by March 17 at 221-1275.Elected a County Commissioner in 1992, Shelton has served on numerous state wide committees and is currently vice president of the Association of Counties for Washington State. He has served as president of the Washington Counties Risk Pool and chairman of the North Sound Regional Support Network. He is currently a member of the Shoreline Hearings Board representing county government.Shelton was raised on an Eastern Washington farm and after graduation from Pomeroy High School attended and graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in economics. He was employed in the banking industry for eight years and spent 15 years in the construction industry owning an excavation and septic business. He was the general manager for Nichols Brothers for two years prior to being elected County Commissioner.Shelton and his wife Marla have been married for 33 years and have two children and one grandchild. They have made South Whidbey their home for the last 30 years."
