"A set design/construction class starts next month at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, following the current lighting class, both offered to the public at no charge. The class will meet on Mondays from 7-9:30 p.m., April 3 through the end of May. The first two workshops, meeting in the WICA lobby, will cover the basics of set design, ground plan and rendering. Students will need to bring #3 pencils, erasers and sharpeners. A T-square and ruler are also helpful. The last six workshops will meet in the WICA scene shop and focus on construction and safe use of power tools, stage carpentry and construction. Students in this class will help build the set for Mrs. California and will receive program credit for being part of the crew. Call 221-8268 to register and for more information; or email wica@whidbey.com. "
