"Swing into Spring with the High School Jazz Band was a great success thanks to all the donations for the auctions, the host parents who put the event together, and especially the 200 or so people who joined us for a grand supper and evening entertainment. The students benefit from the proceeds to help them pay for a musical adventure to Canada for four days in April. The girls' basketball team had a great finale to their winning season at state playoffs. The pep band also was there for all three games. The energy displayed by all the students was terrific.The Science Olympiad team won second place in their district tournament on Saturday. Coach Ballog has worked closely with his team for several months. The students came away with many medals for showing their prowess in engineering principles and general knowledge in many fields of science.Interviewing skills workshop will be held on Friday, March 31 (an early release day) from 11:30 until 3:30 in the career center. Students looking to get jobs for after school or during the summer or later on in life could definitely benefit from this program. Employers from the community will help students through the interview process and give tips on what they look for when interviewing potential employees. Pizza will be served. Registration forms are available on the student services wall and in the career center.The Retired Officer Association, Whidbey Chapter is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship. Eligibility: ROTC member or dependent, accepted at a four-year college, and nominated by a high school teacher. Information is available in the career center and applications are due by April 15.The Pacific Northwest Association College Fair will be held at the Community Center, Seattle University, on April 1 from noon to 3 p.m. Approximately 150 colleges will be represented.
