"The Falcons overpowered Sultan 16-12 in a baseball slugfest on the Falcon diamond Friday. Ryan Arndt sparked an 8-run second with a grand slam home run, which was his second round tripper of the week. He also swatted a two-bagger to keep his Mr. Double moniker intact. It's the first grand slam I can remember in my 16 years, said veteran head coach Bill Patterson. It went over the center field fence. It wasn't cheap. Jesse Sitton belted a two-run four-bagger while Lai Saephan added a double. Brian Gabelein pitched three innings of solid relief and was credited with the win. Monday the Falcons lost 12-2 at Lakewood. Jessie Sitton opened on the mound and pitched solidly as he gave up only three runs in the first four innings. Then Patterson went to his bullpen which surrendered eight hits in a nine-run Lakewood inning. Our relievers threw strikes -- big fat ones, said Patterson. Offensively, Lai Saephan led the way with a double. South Whidbey's overall record fell to 2-6 while they stood at 1-4 in North Cascades League play. This afternoon at 4:30 the Falcons host Lakewood for a rematch, then on Friday they travel to Mount Baker."
