Victim airlifted after nail accident

"An island man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when a nail was shot into his skull at a Clinton construction site.According to a Fire District 3 report, David Guidry, 44, was working at a Rabbit Run Road site at about 1 p.m. Saturday when a nailgun carried by another worker fired a 3-inch nail into the top of Guidry's head.Darrin Reid, captain of special services for FD3, said Guidry was able to speak and move when paramedics and EMTs arrived at the scene of the accident. Paramedics transported Guidry to South Whidbey High School, where a Airlift Northwest helicopter was waiting to fly him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.Reid said the district received word Monday that Guidry was doing fine after emergency surgery to remove the nail."
