Legion splits home opener

"South Whidbey Post 141 split its double-header Sunday, losing the first game to Mariner 6-3 and winning the second game by the identical score of 6-3.Caden Russel pitched a complete game in the opener. While South Whidbey had the bases loaded three times they couldn't find the clutch hit to put them ahead.In the second game, starter Jimmy Davis went 4 2/3 innings while giving up one run. Tristan Johnson picked up the win as he went 2 2/3 innings and gave up 2 runs.Highlights for the day were Tristan Johnson's 3-for-4 hitting in game one, and Justin Barns' throw from center to nail a runner at home. The star of the day was Caden Russel when went 4-for-6 at the plate to go with his solid pitching in game one.South Whidbey's next game will be Sunday, May 28 at noon at Cascade High School."
