"Soccer club plans for fallSouth Whidbey Youth Soccer Club is planning for fall with sign-ups tonight, May 24, from 5-7 p.m. at the South Whidbey Intermediate School Community Room. Kids who will be playing on U-6 to U-16 teams should sign up early.Baseball, soccer training plannedSouth Whidbey Park & Recreation is planning baseball and soccer training plus lots of fun for people of all ages this summer. Here's a rundown of some of the activities.Baseball summer camp: The Northwest Baseball Academy is offering a baseball summer camp at Community Park June 26-29, for boys and girls ages 8 and up. Cost is $150 for 22 hours of instruction covering all aspects of the game. Call the Parks office at 221-5484 or the Northwest Baseball Academy, 425-438-9030.Soccer academy: Puget Sound Soccer Academy will present an advanced skills soccer clinic at Community Park June 19-23. The Academy offers the area's finest high-quality soccer training, under directors Todd Stauber and Travis Connell, former professional players. Cost is $85 per person, or $76.50 if you register by June 1. Call 221-5484.Co-ed softball: A recreational league purely for people who want to have fun is forming. Games will be played Sunday afternoons beginning June 11 and the team entry fee is $65. Minimum age is 16, and entire families are welcome. Pick up registration packets at the Parks office. The deadline is June 2. Call 221-5484.Mariners bus: Join friends on the Parks bus and watch the Seattle Mariners play the Texas Rangers at Safeco Field on Sunday, July 23. Cost is $40 per person, including the ticket. 221-5484.Junior golf: Parks is sponsoring a Junior Golf League for boys and girls 13-18 years old. You'll play 18 holes of golf at Holmes Harbor for 10 Mondays throughout the summer, beginning June 12. Each week there will be special prize holes, and there will by season-end awards. The cost is $120. 221-5484.Throw horseshoes: People 13 and older are invited to join the Horseshoe Pitchers League. A handicap system will provide equal competition for men, women and juniors. The league starts Monday, June 12 at the pits in the park. Register by June 9; cost is $25 singles, $35 doubles. 221-5484."
