SWHS seniors graduate today
June 25, 2008 · Updated 11:57 AM
"The beginning of what may be a new tradition starts today when the South Whidbey High School Class of 2000 graduates in the open air at Waterman Field.Ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m. under what the weatherman predicts will be sunny skies and warm weather. Traditionally, South Whidbey seniors have graduated on Sunday afternoon in the cramped gymnasium.Today's ceremony will have more room for the community. Principal Mike Johnson said people with tickets will be seated until 3:45 p.m., after which there will be festival seating for others who want to attend. At 10 p.m. the seniors will leave for a well chaperoned all-night graduation party.Scholarships and awards were presented Thursday night. They will be reported in next Wednesday's South Whidbey Record along with a report on the graduation ceremony."
