"Photo: The Whidbey Island Marimba Band shares the stage with Beverly Graham at Saturday's Freestock concert in Freeland Park. There's free music again at Freeland Park on Saturday, Aug. 12, when Freestock brings on Beverly Graham and her band and Whidbey Island Marimba. The free concerts on August Saturday afternoons are sponsored by the Freeland Chamber of Commerce and take place from 1-3 p.m. outdoors at Freeland Park, on the shores of Holmes Harbor. (The concerts are canceled in case of rain.)Graham is the founder of Operation Sack Lunch, which feeds more than 2,000 homeless people a week. She is also an accomplished singer/songwriter who has recorded and performs songs about love, life, and social justice - with a touch of humor added to the thought provoking mix. The Saturday concert also includes the Whidbey Island Marimba Band, playing their authentic Zimbabwean music and known for their big sound and rhythm. The popular Island performers bring crowds to their dancing feet at Choochokam, the Loganberry Festival and numerous other special events. The summer music series, now in its second year, showcases a variety of entertainment, featuring some of the island's best musicians. The final concert on Aug. 19 will star the Latin jazz group Bahia.Bring a blanket and picnic basket, let the little ones swing on the jungle gym, and enjoy an afternoon of music and fun. "
