Gypsy guitar music with a classical turn

A mix of guitar, bass, flute and violin will spin out a program of classical and modern guitar music by European and American composers when four Whidbey musician present a concert called Classical Goes Gypsy and more.Classical Goes Gypsy features Richard Rorex on guitar, Greg Barnes, bass, special guest soloists Michael Nutt on violin, and Henk Sikkenga on guitar and flute.The concert, set for Saturday, Sept. 30, will feature a program of classical and new metropolitan swing compositions. The concert will guide the audience through the development of guitar music from eighth century baroque with the music of J.S. Bach, Ferdinand Carulli and Francisco Tarrega to the early 20th century Gypsy-influenced sounds of the Hot Quintet de France, and on to a taste of modern era guitar music. "
