Island County residents should get property value notices by June 28

The Island County Assessor's Office will be mailing change of property value notices out on June 25, a big improvement over last year's Aug. 31 mailing.
Property owners should expect to see their change of value notices by June 28.
"I'm extremely proud of the work ethic and cooperation displayed by the entire staff," said Island County Assessor Dave Mattens.
Mattens said that most properties will see no change or a slight decrease in value this assessment cycle.
"However, there are still some properties that will see an increase due to their high demand," Mattens added.
The mailing this week puts the office back on the property tax schedule, which will assist taxing districts in planning budgets and the Board of Equalization in scheduling hearings for appeals.
It also allows the state time to complete the school levy calculations, Mattens said.
In addition to physical inspections, the assessor's office is required to statistically update the value of all real property in the county annually.
The median housing price in Island County is $289,500.
