South Whidbey High School athletic director John Patton has named Mandy Jones as the school's new varsity volleyball coach.

Jones replaces Tim Durbin, who resigned to spend more time with his family. Durbin was commuting daily to his home in Everett and the ferry hassles were taking a toll.

South Whidbey finished the 2007 season at 5-10 for sixth place in the Cascade Conference.

Of the 13-strong Falcon coaching staff, Jones will be the only woman coach at the varsity level.
