More Whidbey parking spots made available for ferry riders

"More people will be walking on the car ferries or taking the passenger-only ferry during construction on the Mukilteo ferry dock. When the car ferries go between Clinton and Edmonds, they can carry only half the cars because the trip is twice as long. That means islanders will need a place to park their cars on Whidbey Island. Besides the usual places, State Ferries has arranged for the additional locations.* 30 new spaces -- Department of Transportation maintenance yard next to the existing Clinton park and ride.* 60 new spaces -- Freeland Park and Ride, courtesy of Trinity Lutheran Church.* 10 new spaces -- Greenbank park and ride.* 40 new spaces -- Dan Porter Park, Clinton.* 130 spaces -- Party's Parking, Humphrey Road in Clinton, $1 per day.* 19 new spaces - Coupeville Park & Ride.* 19 new spaces -- Oak Harbor Park & Ride.* 7 new spaces -- Soundview Shopper Park & Ride, North Whidbey.Island Transit will maintain its normal schedule to these lots during the midday closure of the Mukilteo ferry dock.Vanpools and carpools will receive priority loading.
