"Don't live in the Freeland zip code area? Don't worry, the people planning Freeland still want your opinion. For several weeks a survey prepared by the Island County Planning Department has been in circulation. Many were mailed and others distributed in local stores. But last week, members of the Freeland Volunteers, a group helping with the planning process, realized others on the island were not giving their input. Some people are not picking up survey forms because they live outside the Freeland zip code area, said Mitch Streicher, a member of the Volunteers. We want their input.Herb Hunt, chairman of the Volunteers, said Freeland is considered a service town for all of South Whidbey, thus outside opinions about its future are welcome. All should give input to it, he said.Hunt said people who fill out the forms are asked where they live, so the organization charged with interpreting the results, the Freeland Subarea Planning Committee, can decide the value of comments from other areas. Most of the surveys have been collected by now, Hunt said. But anyone wanting to participate can stop by the Hunt Brothers office on Main Street and pick up a survey form. "
