New Year's holiday is normal for ferry trips

"Sunday and Monday will be normal at the Clinton ferry dock as the two car ferries make their scheduled departures to Mukilteo.After New Year's Day, beginning Tuesday, the ferries will resume the construction schedule that began in November. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday through Friday, the Mukilteo ferry dock will be closed so construction on new wingwalls can continue. During those hours, a passenger-only ferry will take people between Clinton and Mukilteo, while the two car ferries will operate between Clinton and Edmonds. Check your ferry schedule for exact departure times.Other aspects of life on Whidbey Island also return to normal next week after the New Year's holiday on Monday when banks, schools, post offices and government offices will be closed so employees can watch football games. South Whidbey's public schools resume operations on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Students anxious for another break won't have long to wait, however.
