Accident in Freeland injures three

"Rescue workers aid Jason Dorn, Rick Hill, Jr., and Kendra Watkins at the scene of a two-car collision Thursday afternoon.Matt Johnson / staff photoThree South Whidbey residents were hurt Thursday afternoon when a car driven by a Marysville man turned in front of them on Highway 525 near Freeland's Short Stop convenience store.According to the Washington State Patrol, Kendra Watkins, 16, was driving her 1982 Honda Prelude northbound at about 1 p.m. Thursday when Stephan Leveque, 21, turned his 1989 Mazda MX-6 into Watkin's lane at the intersection of Highway 525 and Freeland Avenue. The two cars struck corner-to-corner on the drivers' sides. Watkins and her passengers, Rick Hill, Jr., 20, and Jason Dorn, 19, were all injured in the crash and were transported to Whidbey General Hospital for treament. Watkins struck her head against the windshield in the crash, while her passengers were shaken. All were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.Leveque was cited at the scene for failing to yield. Both cars were a total loss. "
