Crash results in sentence for drug possession

"A Langley man was high on methamphetamines and marijuana when he crashed his car on Highway 525 last summer, according to the Island County Sheriff's Department. Island County Superior Court Judge Alan Hancock on March 30 sentenced Joseph Turner, 20, to 30 days in jail after Turner pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamines.Deputy F. Gomez wrote in his report that he arrested Turner on suspicion of DUI at the scene of a one-car accident June 7. He found a small glass jar in Turner's front pocket which turned out to contain methamphetamine residue.Turner admitted to Gomez that he used meth frequently and sometimes marijuana. A blood sample taken from Turner showed evidence of both meth and TCH, the active ingredient in marijuana.Turner could have faced up to 90 days on the charge. "
