Swing into Spring with SWHS band

"Jackie Ballog, a South Whidbey High School band student, accepts a silent auction donation from Jim Rowley of Bayview Farm and Garden. The auction will be part of the band's gala spring dinner dance on Friday.Student musicians will serve dinner as well as providing the dance tunes at the festive Swing into Spring event presented by the South Whidbey High School Band Program on Friday, April 20 in the high school commons. (An incorrect date was previously announced.)While band students serve a choice of salmon or vegetarian entree for dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., guests will enjoy continuous entertainment, including a swing dance number performed by Island Dance. A silent auction will go on throughout the dinner.Afterward, the award-winning South Whidbey High School Jazz Band will start the dance, playing their best swing tunes. There will be a dance contest, a live auction, and elegant desserts.Swing Into Spring is the largest fund-raiser of the year for the band program. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from any student in the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band or Jazz Band. They are also available by calling the band room, 221-4300, ext. 5355, and leaving a name and phone number. "
