Falcons fastpitch trounce Lakewood behind Lopez's pitching

"Ashley Lopez pitched a 3-hit shutout and enjoyed plenty of run support from her teammates as South Whidbey beat Lakewood 10-0 in fastpitch action Thursday on Falcon soil.Lakewood entered the game with a better league record, but South Whidbey was the dominant team this day. The home team's nine-hit attack was spearheaded by Julie Robinson's 2-for-3, 3 RBI performance, while Keasha Campbell and Bronwyn Russell added doubles.The victory left the Falcons with a 6-5 North Cascades record while Lakewood fell to 7-3. In the final few games of the season South Whidbey is trying to make a run at third place, according to coach Rene Christian, to better situate themselves for the playoffs.The Falcons are scheduled to host Sultan on Wednesday. "
