Crash sends woman to hospital

"EMTs from Fire Protection District 3 treat victims of a two-car accident Wednesday at the intersection of Woodard Avenue and Fish Road.Matt Johnson / staff photoA 42-year-old Freeland woman hurt in a traffic accident Wednesday morning had to take a ride to Whidbey General Hospital.Monette Allison was a passenger in a 1986 Volkswagon Jetta driven by Dennis Nichols, 28, of Freeland at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday as the two drove westbound on Fish Road. When they reached the road's intersection with Woodard Road, their car was struck by a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Chet Dahl, 41, of Oak Harbor.According to the Island County Sheriff's Office, Dahl was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Woodard, then drove into the intersection. He apparently did not see Nichols' car when he pulled out and his truck was hit in the driver's side door.Neither Nichols nor Dahl were hurt in the accident. Both vehicles were totaled by the impact. "
