Special filing period set

"A special filing period will be held Aug. 13-15 at the Island County Auditor's Office for elective positions for which no one filed during the regular filing period of July 23-27.The following positions remain open in Island County:Bayview Beach Water District, position 2, 6-year term; Bayview Beach Water District, position 4, 2-year unexpired term; Long Beach Water District, position 1, 4-year unexpired term; Long Beach Water District, position 2, 6-year term; Long Beach Water District, position 3, 2-year term; North Whidbey Water District, position 2, 2-year unexpired term; North Whidbey Water District, position 2, 4-year unexpired; North Whidbey Water District, Position 3, 6-year term; Rhodena Beach Water District, position 2, 6-year term; and Cemetery District 1, position 2, 6-year term.To file a declaration of candidacy, stop by the Island County Auditor's Office at the courthouse in Coupeville between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.If no one files during the special period, no election will take place and any write-ins of candidate names will not be counted, according to Auditor Suzanne Sinclair. "
