Fire districts establish assistance fund

"South and Central Whidbey firefighters and other emergency responders have created a way for islanders to help those who suffered in New York City.Steve Hutchinson of Central Whidbey Fire & Rescue said a fund has been established at all island branches of Pacific Northwest Bank for those who wish to help the families of firefighters and rescue personnel killed or injured in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.South Whidbey Fire District 3 assisted in establishing the fund, Hutchinson said.People who want to donate may stop at the bank and ask that their money be placed in the Fire Department Widows and Children Fund.Anyone with questions may call Steve Hutchinson at 360-678-3602, or Paul Busch at 321-1533. "
