The Ken's Korner well was given the all-clear on Thursday following nine additional tests on the system. All tests came back without any signs of bacteria.

Since July 18 the Red Apple Market, Trattoria Guiseppe and all the other businesses in the Clinton mall have been on a boil-water order because of a sample that tested positive for an e. coli bacteria.

The sample was discovered during the routine monthly check of the system and was found at one site, an unused outdoor water spigot.

King Water Management of Coupeville ordered additional testing at all the drinking fountains, the grocery store, restaurants, reservoir and the well. Some were tested several times and been clean each time.

"We wanted to ensure the safety of the water, even though it meant businesses would have to use bottled and boiled water and bagged ice for a few additional days," said Susie King, co-owner of King Water Management.

King operates 140 wells on Whidbey Island, including the one for Ken's Korner since 1996.
