A $20,000 bench warrant was issued for a 19-year-old man accused of bashing another man in the head with a baseball bat in a fight over a woman.

Alexander Boisvert was charged in Island County Superior Court Dec. 2 with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree malicious mischief.

Judge Vickie Churchill issued the warrant after Boisvert didn't appear at a hearing Dec. 13.

Langley Police Officer Laura Price wrote in an offense report that the 18-year-old victim and Boisvert's ex-girlfriend went to pick up Boisvert's roommate at a Third Street home in Langley Aug. 4. They reported that Boisvert came out of his house with a bat and struck the victim in the head by smashing through the driver's side window of a car.

According to the report, Boisvert pulled the man out of the car and continued beating him. The passenger, the roommate and an older woman then joined in the fray. The report said the victim sustained a wound above his eye, he seemed dazed and was slurring his words when he spoke.
