Tara Barlean resigned her position on the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation Board Feb. 13, stating it was necessary because she is moving out of the district.

The remaining commissioners, Curt Gordon, Carl Westling and Paul Arand, are accepting applications to fill Barlean's position until the general election in November 2002, when the position will go before the voters.

Registered voters residing within the district boundaries are eligible for consideration.

Interested individuals must submit a cover letter and civic resume listing community and volunteer involvement and activities to South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, P.O. Box 136, Langley, 98260.

Application packets can also be hand delivered to the district Office, 5495 Maxwelton Road, Langley. Deadline for application is March 13 before 4 p.m.

For more information about the board vacancy or commissioner duties, contact Parks Director Suzette Hart at the district office, 221-5484.
