Cancellations come with fee at South Whidbey Parks and Rec

Canceling a reservation with one of South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District’s many offered programs costs a little more these days.

Prior to a recent adjustment by parks district leaders, people could change their plans without penalty. But after a series of last-minute cancellations, an eight percent service fee and refund policy was added.

“It was particularly painful for programs where we had wait lists,” said Carrie Monforte, parks program coordinator.

Refunds requested before the cancellation deadline are subject to an eight percent service fee, with a minimum charge of $12 and a maximum cost of $45.

If a reservation is canceled after a deadline date or within five business days of a program’s start, refunds are not awarded.

Full refunds are given for classes canceled by the parks district but not for cancellations of one-day classes, trips, camps or special events.
