Langley marina work to resume

Work on South Whidbey Harbor is tentatively scheduled to restart Friday, Sept. 6 following an accident that put crews behind schedule as they were installing piles.

Ed Field, port operations manager, said the Phase 1 project will still be completed on the planned completion date, Jan. 27. Crews may work through some weekends to ensure the project is finished on time, he said.

Field said there’s still a lot of work to do with the project both onshore and offshore. The project will add 400 linear feet of dock space to the harbor.

A mechanical accident caused a barge to tip and a crane to slide from the barge into the water Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The crane was lifted a week later on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Neptune Marine will install the remaining 13 piles at the harbor.
