South Whidbey school board to hear improvement plans

The South Whidbey School Board will hear several plans to improve district schools during its regular meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Presentations on school improvements will be made by principals from South Whidbey Elementary School, Langley Middle School, South Whidbey High School and the director of South Whidbey Academy. Superintendent Jo Moccia will also provide a presentation on the district improvement plan.

The presenters will review performance data from each school and analyze future goals, objectives and how to achieve them.

The board will also review policies introduced at previous meetings such as minutes, sexual health education, HIV/AIDS prevention education, career and technical education, diplomas for veterans and military leave. The board will also go over the collective bargaining agreement and policies for special transportation, use of reasonable force, and the re-establishment of the maintenance and operations tax levy.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at South Whidbey Elementary School, 5380 S. Maxwelton Road, Langley.
