911 service down on Whidbey, in Washington

911 phone services in Island County and across Washington were down for most of Thursday morning, South Whidbey Fire/EMS Chief Rusty Palmer said in an email.

The number to call is 360-321-4400. If that line is busy, then try 360-679-9567 and 360-629-2224.

Service went down around 1:30 a.m. April 10. The issue stemmed from a problem with the emergency services carrier, CenturyLink, which reported that it had resolved the problem by 8 a.m.
