The South Whidbey School District board of directors are going to examine the school district's financial footing at their summer retreat on Tuesday.

"What we want to do is take a close look at the budget to ensure we are meeting the needs of our students," said board member Rich Parker. "One of our primary roles is the allocation of resources for the delivery of necessary services."

The retreat runs from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. and will be held at at 2355 Thompson Road, Langley.

Other topics include board-related policies and procedures, committees for 2008/2009, a review of accomplishments for the year just ended and discussion of the replacement maintenance-and-operations bond for 2010.
