A small tree that toppled toward Wilkinson Road spent more than one hour suspended above the blacktop Friday morning.

The tree fell onto a fiber-optic cable, creating a traffic hazard. South Whidbey Fire/EMS officials flagged motorists around the tree until it was cleared.

No one was injured in the incident, said Deputy Chief Jon Beck, who responded to the call.

The Comcast line was cleared by 10 a.m.
