October memorial for Schell planned

A celebration of life for Paul Schell will be held in Seattle this October.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Bell Harbor International Conference Center, 2211 Alaskan Way, in Seattle. The date was set for Schell’s birthday. He would have been 77.

Schell, a longtime Langley resident and former Seattle mayor, died July 27 from complications associated with heart surgery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either of two organizations that were meaningful to Paul and his family: the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, www.wicaonline.org, and Amara, www.amaraparenting.org.
