Bob Riggs resigns from South Whidbey school board
August 27, 2008 · 3:13 PM
Bob Riggs, who has represented District 1 for nine years, has resigned from the South Whidbey school board.
"I promised to stay until the budget was passed in July," Riggs said from Los Angeles, Calif. on Wednesday.
"I'm proud of our district, its employees and accomplishments and I hope in some small way the service I have been able to offer has contributed to the District's success."
Riggs cited the pressures of working on film locations as the primary reason for his resignation. Currently, he's in Hollywood as a special effects supervisor for the film "Angels and Demons," the prequel to "The DaVinci Code."
"I don't want to feel guilty anymore about not being there," he said.
The board meets at 6:30 tonight at the Intermediate School's community room on Maxwelton Road.
