One person was injured in a two-vehicle mishap Wednesday that disrupted traffic along Highway 525 north of Maxwelton Road.

Fire District 3 Deputy Chief Mike Cotton said a small pick-up truck ran into the rear of a small station wagon about 2:20 p.m. in the northbound lane between Coles and Craw roads.

The woman passenger in the station wagon was taken by ambulance to Whidbey General Hospital, Cotton said. The man driving the station wagon and the two young men in the pickup truck appeared uninjured.

Southbound traffic was diverted around the accident, and northbound traffic was routed into the other lane to permit officials to assist the injured person and to investigate, Cotton said.

He said traffic disruption on the highway lasted about 45 minutes.
