October 15, 2008 · 10:12 AM
The League of Women Voters of South Whidbey Island will hold its second election forum tonight at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland.
The forum starts at 7 p.m. and will cover state and local ballot measures.
Ballot measures to be discussed include Initiative 985, the “Transportation Measure”; I-1000, “Death With Dignity”; and I-1020, “Care Worker Certification.” Local proposals include the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District’s new community recreation center, the Port of South Whidbey’s proposal to expand the Langley Marina, and the creation of a Whidbey Island public utilities district.
The evening will be moderated by Barbara Seitle, president of the League of Women Voters of Washington. Questions are welcome, and can be submitted by attendees at the forum.
The event is the second forum held this month by the league, and follows one held last week at South Whidbey High School for candidates running for Congress, county and state offices.
