NINE TO WATCH IN '09 | Port takes over marina
January 3, 2009 · 8:54 AM
No doubt it’s going to be a busy year for Port of South Whidbey officials as they take over Langley’s small boat harbor this month.
Rick Brewer, the port’s new full-time harbormaster, is firmly ensconced in his office on site and the port expects to have Phil Simon Park moved to the waterside by late summer. As promised, the area will be spruced up with new picnic tables, cleaned-up restrooms and improved signage.
“We owe it to the community and the Simon family to make the marina a better place for folks to visit,” said Port Commissioner Geoff Tapert. “It is a gateway to South Whidbey.”
