The South Whidbey School District welcomed Allen Bullard as its new transportation and maintenance supervisor Tuesday.

Bullard replaces Veronica Schmidt, who left in July to run the Snohomish School District’s bus operations.

Bullard was assistant manager for the Vancouver regional school district’s special education division, covering six counties, 22 school districts and 56 bus drivers. He was himself a driver and former school- bus trainer.

He also has a background in carpentry and drywall installation, so he knows a bit about maintenance.

“We think he’ll be a good match,” said District Superintendent Fred McCarthy.
