Port workshop is Wednesday
January 5, 2010 · 11:38 AM
The Port of South Whidbey will hold a workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 6 to orient commissioners on current and projected actions needed in 2010.
After the swearing-in of Port Commissioner Chris Jerome, port staff plan to review and address port projects and priorities for the coming year and beyond.
Among the issues on the table is the expansion of the Langley Marina and funding possibilities, possible lease of a cellphone tower on port property and maintenance projects at Possession Beach Waterfront Park, the Clinton, Freeland and Bush Point docks.
The harbormaster will detail upcoming plans for the marina, including activities designed to bring both locals and visitors to Langley, such as “Music on the Dock,” a salmon derby, boater education weekend and a winter SCUBA dive event.
Other potential port projects to be considered are moped rentals, commuter needs at the ferry, shuttle availability for marina visitors, incubator space for new businesses and various vending and concession ideas.
The workshop is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the port office in Freeland. The regular public meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12 at China City restaurant in Freeland.
