Whidbey Island Democrats plan anniversary bash

The Whidbey Island Democratic Club will have its 13th anniversary party and business meeting this weekend in Coupeville.

The club will meet from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the Coupeville Rec Hall. A silent auction and membership drive will be part of the event, and a $5 fee will be collected when doors open.

The WIDC’s “Democrat of the Year” award will be presented to Dr. Marshall Goldberg. Island County Prosecuting Attorney Greg Banks will be the keynote speaker, and he will talk about “The Supreme Court and New Corporation Rights.”

The meeting will also include the election of directors (voters must be paid members of the club) and a membership drive. Annual dues for the club are $25 for a family or couple, $20 for single and $12 for students.
