Island County Democrats make picks
April 19, 2010 · 10:18 AM
Island County Democrats chose five candidates for county positions during the nominating convention in Oak Harbor on April 10.
Only one of the positions had more than one Democrat candidate vying for the job. Island County Clerk Patricia Terry, who was appointed last December, is facing fellow Democrat Debra Van Pelt, who currently works in the office. At the convention, the precinct committee officers voted to nominate Terry.
In addition, the officers chose to nominate three incumbents: Island County Commissioner John Dean, Prosecutor Greg Banks and Assessor Dave Mattens. They also nominated Ana Maria Nuňez, who is running for treasurer.
