The Port of South Whidbey announced it has signed an agreement with the state’s Department of Natural Resources to administer over-water leases in the Langley small boat harbor.

“We’ve become the landlord for the property and will administer it, at a saving to the port of about $10,000 per year,” said port manager Ed Field. “Basically, we’re assuming liability should there be any pollution problems during construction of the marina. There’s not much risk involved, but it’s now our responsibility, and the commissioners take that very seriously.”
