The M-Bar-C Ranch will celebrate National Trails Day with a benefit for the effort to save the Trillium Woods property near Freeland.

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust has been fundraising to purchase the 664-acre property. Saturday’s benefit kicks off at 10, but hikers and bikers are encouraged to begin arriving at the ranch around 9 a.m.

Lunch will follow the tour, along with a presentation about Trillium Woods with guest speaker Joel Connelly, columnist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Organizers said those who wish to skip the tour and just enjoy the program should arrive at noon.

The ranch is located at 5264 Shore Meadow Road.

Also Saturday, the Healthy Pet in Freeland will hold a self-serve dog-wash fundraiser for the Trillium Woods preservation effort. Call 331-1808 for details.
