The South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District is holding a meeting this week to get public input on the update to the district’s comprehensive plan.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10 at park district headquarters (5475 Maxwelton Road).

Park officials will present updates and changes to the district’s comprehensive plan, which spans the years 2010–2015. Pieces of the plan include new maps and descriptions of district facilities and all park facilities on Whidbey Island.

An updated comp plan is essential for the parks district, and a key component is its capital improvement plan — the district’s “road map” for the future recreation, maintenance and operational needs.

The parks district needs an updated plan — including a capital plan on what it wants to build — to snag state or federal grant money.

Those who wish to obtain a copy of the comprehensive plan in draft form can contact Terri Arnold at 221-6488 or e-mail dirswprd@whidbey.com.
