The Langley City Council will consider an ordinance change Monday that, if passed, will legalize the use of skateboards in some areas of the city.

The proposal would allow skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, and any other human powered device to be used in residential neighborhoods.

Currently, only bicycles are allowed on city streets or alleys.

While the new rules would legalize skateboarding in neighborhoods, they would still be restricted from use in commercial areas.

The prohibition would not and does not apply to bikes.
