Whidbey Island Public Hospital District is seeking a board member to fill the seat of Dr. Paul Zaveruha, who recently resigned.

A Public Hospital District is a municipal entity formed within a defined geographic area to provide healthcare services to community residents and others in need. State law requires that an elected boards of commissioners oversee the general conduct of a hospital district’s affairs. Representing five distinct areas, hospital commissioners are charged with fiduciary oversight and to ensure the quality of care delivered.

The Whidbey Island board of commissioners is currently accepting applications from civic-minded and capable individuals to fill its vacant District 2 position. The successful candidate will reside within the district, which extends approximately from north of Freeland to just south of Oak Harbor.
