Online registration is available for the South Whidbey Schools Foundation’s annual Fundraiser Gala Dinner at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 19 at Useless Bay Golf & Country Club. The nonprofit foundation funds innovative, teacher-requested classroom projects, and last year provided $19,000 in grants for 27 projects and materials.

This year’s keynote speaker is South Whidbey School District Superintendent Jo Moccia, who will address the state of South Whidbey public schools today and where she hopes they will be in the future. Social hour and a silent auction of student art begins at 5 p.m. with background music provided by DB Jazz.  There will also be two teacher and student presentations of projects funded by the foundation. John Knox, the schools foundation president, will emcee the event, followed by Sue Frause, serving as the after-dinner auctioneer of educational “shares” to support funding in the sciences, arts, and humanities.

Dinner tickets cost $75 (of which $35 is a tax-deductible donation) and can be purchased on the foundation’s website at www.SouthWhidbeySchoolsFoundation.org, or by sending a check with contact information to SWSF, P.O. Box 24, Freeland, WA, 98249.
