The state ferry Tokitae will be out of service from the Clinton-to-Mukilteo run this week for re-certification of its evacuation equipment, Washington State Ferries has announced.

The 144-car ferry is expected to be gone at least one week, and will be replaced by the 124-car Cathlamet. It was moved from the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route to fill in for the Tokitae.

In an email alert from Washington State Ferries Assistant Secretary Lynne Griffith, she advised that the reduced capacity will result in longer wait times. Evacuation equipment on every vessel is inspected every two years to be certified.
